Introduction to Ashtanga

Learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice. The Primary Series is a set sequence of postures designed to bring strength, flexibility, and endurance to the body.  We will go over the basic structure of the primary series and the Tristana method used. Tristana consists of Ujjayi Pranayama (breathing technique), Bandhas (energy locks or seals), Dristi (looking focus).

During the workshop:

  • You will perform 5 Sun Salutation A, 3 Sun Salutation B, the entire Standing Series, a blend of the Seated Series and the closing sequence. 
  • Make sure to bring water and a towel, as the room will be set between 78-85 degrees.
  • This workshop is an introduction to Ashtanga and is appropriate for all levels.
